LOOKS – Online Premiere of the Documentary

LOOKS is a feature documentary about appearance and aesthetics. The premiere streams online and is free for anyone to watch, anywhere. Where most films about beauty begin at the surface, this one begins with the smile and with oral health – the feature people register first in someone else and understand least in themselves. From there it opens into aesthetic medicine, orthodontics, design and psychology. Roughly 30 percent of the running time is animation and mixed visual technique, combining 3D and 2D animation with drawing, painting and sculptural styles. That makes the film closer to a visual essay than to a conventional documentary. It is produced by Pawel Lipka, whose earlier work includes animation for The Garfield Show and visual effects for the feature film Suicide Room. Alongside the film the project runs a free educational portal with articles about appearance, health and aesthetics.
